The Third Children's Spirituality
Conference: Christian Perspectives
Concordia University, River Forest, Illinois, June 14-17, 2009
Overview and Goals
Research and theory related to children's spiritual characteristics, growth, and experiences will be examined within a Christian framework. Presenters as well as those who attend will represent a wide variety of theological and denominational backgrounds. The goals of the conference include:
1. Networking Christians who are currently conducting research and writing on children's spiritual development and spiritual formation, thus the conference provides a means for sharing research related to this topic.
2. Providing a forum for the integration of biblical, theological, and social science perspectives on children's spiritual experiences, development, and formation.
3. Exploring innovative approaches to children's ministry and providing encouragement to those involved in this important area of ministry.
Financial support for the planning of the first conference and related activities was provided by the Louisville Institute. The planning team members come from a wide variety of Christian faith traditions.
